Hey friends and family, I am completing the Banham Marsden March which involves walking from Chelsea to Sutton, a 15-mile walk, along-side my family. As a few of you know, two years ago, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She received treatment from the Royal Marsden in Sutton. I hope to raise awareness surrounding the importance of mammograms and other preventative tests. If you are reading this and debating booking an appointment, I encourage you to, as it can save your life and did my mums. I would be more than happy to accompany anyone to any test. To show our support for the amazing hospital, we thought that we would complete the walk and try and raise some money for the hospital along the way. If it wasn't for the Marsden, who knows where our family would be! This money is going towards building the new Oak Cancer Centre in Sutton - more information is below. Thank you everyone in advance, Sophie Fraser-Cannon xxx Here is more about the charity: Thousands of people join us every year to walk between our two Royal Marsden sites in Chelsea and Sutton. Youll find patients, families, supporters of the hospital and Royal Marsden staff all taking part and fundraising. We started The Banham Marsden March in 2011 and since then youve raised more than £13 million. This incredible amount has helped The Royal Marsden to revolutionise the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and improve the lives of everyone affected by cancer, across the UK and around the world. But we dont want to stop there. We want you to help us celebrate our tenth anniversary in style: with more walkers than ever before, and by raising £2 million for a very special cause: to help build the Oak Cancer Centre. This brand-new centre, in Sutton, will help us speed up the development of life-saving treatments and ensure we can be there for everyone who needs us.
