Story
Thank you for taking a moment to visit our JustGiving page, much appreciated!
Everyone has been or will be affected by the illness of a loved one. As frustrating as it is there isn't a lot we can do to stop it, but we can always find our own little ways to help.
People who have the pleasure of knowing my mum will know that there isn't a better mother / aunt / nanny / friend / colleague you could possibly ask for. Someone who wants to do everything for everyone and is always so willing to help those in need. Being diagnosed with MS 12 years ago has made everything that bit more of a challenge but her positive mindset is something we are all very proud and inspired by.
So... we have decided to give something back and throw ourselves out of the sky to raise money and awareness for MS Society UK. We will be free falling (an actual terrifying) 13,000ft @ 120mph but it will be well worth it if it means getting the help and support by you!
Those unaware, Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological disease in the brain/spinal cord where the immune system mistakenly attacks it own nerve endings. It stops the brains ability to communicate and can progressively affect any part of the body. Since the symptoms correspond to the areas of the brain damaged, everyone is different and no two people will have it the same. This makes the condition incredibly unpredictable and daunting for all involved. It is often invisible to others around them, which is why it is so important to raise awareness for those who, unknowingly to you, may face this battle everyday.
100 000 people in the UK suffer and there is still no cure. Research is so very close, but there is nothing to stop or reverse the damage.
A little idea of what you could be helping with:
- £5 = Lab essentials
- £10 = Physio equipment to assist with movement
- £50 = 10 calls to the MS society helpline for those in need
- £1000 = MRi scan (lasting for 4 hours) for more details of what is going on
Any kind of donation, no matter how small would be incredibly appreciated and will help to get more understanding of the condition. There is actually hope for an answer in this lifetime. Thank you for reading, hope you are feeling generous and can help us make an impact!
