Story
Steven, my Mum and I are walking and cycling to help raise money for the ECHC!
In January 2018 our son Jack was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) which also lead him to being diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus (DI).
From about 4 months old Jack started to show symptoms of LCH and DI which we mistook as simple teething symptoms little did we know that our lives would change by the time he was 18 months old. Since December 2017 Jack has since undergone several scans, surgeries and 2 rounds of chemotherapy treatment. In February 2019 Jack received the all clear and began remission, unfortunately by August 2019 he had relapsed and was to start a different chemotherapy treatment for 2 years which hopefully end in August 2021. Jack’s condition is something he will out grow eventually but due to the location of his LCH in his head no risks will be taken if it grows back and he will need more treatment.
Without the ECHC we would not be where we are today. The charity has helped us through so much in the last 2 and a half years. We hope we can repay them for all they have done for us by raising as much as we can. So please help by donating now!
Thank you so much for your donation to Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity. Your support will help transform the experiences of children and young people cared for at The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and other community settings. For the 100,000-plus babies, children and young people who benefit from our work, this means their lives will be less interrupted by illness, they will have a more positive experience of hospital and their families will be supported during stressful times.
