Story
Hi everyone, thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
On the 16th May I spent 8 hours in the peak district - climbing up waterfalls, jumping across peat bogs and hiking. It was hard work but totally worth it - pictures to follow!!
It was a draw between the walkers and cyclists, with some of each group finishing behind the others, but it was still a success as lots of money was raised for our chosen charities.
Please donate what you can - I have almost reached my target total of £300 - all for the fantastic people at Sue Ryder.
The Challenge
The Mills & Reeve Charity Challenge is a fundraising event that takes place each year with different theme.
This year is a race.
The Dark Peak team who will be hiking around a 25 mile circuit in the Peak District vs The White Peak team who will be cycling a 70 mile circuit around the Peak District.
I am in the Dark Peak team.
Around 50 people are taking part in total; each raising money for their own chosen charity.
I have nominated Sue Ryder Care as my chosen charity.
The Charity
The Sue Ryder hospice at Thorpe Hall, Peterborough was opened in May 1991, to provide care for people with active, progressive and advanced illness, where the focus of care is on quality of life.
Their aim is to provide a relaxed, friendly and happy atmosphere in which patients can feel at home. They are cared for by a team of nurses and doctors 24 hours a day.
My step-gran was really looked after by the staff at Thorpe Hall in the last few months of her life, who made her feel safe and human. They were also important support for my family.
This type of invaluable service can only continue with the help of voluntary donations, for example, Thorpe Hall needs around £1m a year to operate.
So please sponsor me now and help this worthy cause!
Many thanks
Sophie
