Story
In short, I'm doing this for the Foxs, the Woodstocks, the Moores, the Bullocks/Comans, the O'Connors & the Daggs who are all amazing. <3
You can usually find me doing silly things like I am in my picture, so I am doing this mini triathlon which consists of:
750m swim (in open water!)
20km bike ride (currently don't own a bike..)
5k run (something I've done before!)
because too many people I care about have been affected by cancer.
I know I'm lucky that no one in my immediate family has been affected by cancer, but the family I'm about to be apart of has. In total I know 6 people that have been hit with cancer, all from 6 different families.
One of my best & oldest friends has now lost both her parents to this unforgiving, totally unfair & awful disease (she's the same age as me)
For my other friends, their loved ones look set to beat it this time, but this in no way detracts from the long, and difficult journey some of them are still going through.
If its 6 of my friends & their families then I can't begin to imagine how many people in my wider friendship group, my office, my fellow uni graduates etc. have been affected by it.
This is why I have entered this mini triathlon to help raise at least £500 (but hopefully much more!) for Macmillan as I know they have helped & supported my friends & their families in a time where maybe no one else could. As I'm sure you can all appreciate, it's hard to find the right words to comfort someone you love when they are going through something so awful.
My friends are so incredibly brave & this is my way of showing I love them.

As a side note - me & my friends have to raise £500 each so please give as much as you can!
As a second side note - I've not run 5k in a couple of years, never swam in open water & as mentioned above, currently don't own a bike. This may be a bit of a challenge but one that I fully intend on smashing.
