Hello, my name is Sophie and I am trying to raise a minimum of £3,000 for Velindre Cancer Centre, an organisation which is held close to my family’s heart. Velindre were fantastic in diagnosing and treating my beautiful cousin Jordane. We sadly lost Jordane on the 12th March 2023 after her short battle with Small Cell Cancer, she was 35 years of age! It was her wishes that all donations made would go to Velindre Cancer Centre.
Jordane was a beautiful, intelligent, straight talking and a very strong minded woman. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Small Cell Cancer of the Cervix in September 2022. This is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer. Velindre Cancer Centre had only come across a few cases, and as it stands around 1 in 100 cervical cancers are this type.
This aggressive cancer spread to Jordane’s ovaries, lymph nodes, spine, brain, throat and arms. She became paralysed, blind in one eye and left unable to talk within a matter of days. As you can imagine this was very difficult for my Auntie and Uncle to witness as well as her close friends and immediate family. This goes to show how fast spreading this horrendous cancer is. Even though Jordane was given days to live, she never let this awful disease get her down. She fought with everything she had left and was so determined to fight this vicious disease. She was always optimistic and wanted everything in black and white with her disease and wouldn't accept anything else. And from this, she will be remembered. She was one strong-willed cookie throughout her diagnosis and treatment. She was one of a kind our Jord and was loved by so many people. Jordane was taken away from us far too soon.
The donations made throughout the year and onwards from multiple fundraising events will be put into the research of Small Cell Cancer as some symptoms, causes and effects are still unknown. Thank you for reading Jordane’s story and PLEASE PLEASE donate as every penny could potentially save a life.
