Story
Liza, Indie and Annie - your names will be written on my arm on Sunday (in permanent pen as I may sweat them off in the heat)... you inspired me to do this, thank you. All my donations are given to the Myotonic Dystrophy area of Muscular Dystrophy, to fund research projects to find a cure for this muscle wasting disease. Myotonic dystrophy is a long term genetic disorder that affects muscle function. My muscles are going to be tested during this 26.2 mile race but yours are tested everyday. Every step I take on Sunday will be for you (should be over 55,000). For me, this has been a great journey... at the time of writing it is 2 days until the BIG DAY! This time last year I had never run more than 8 miles, 10 miles by July, 13.1 miles in October (a horrendous Blenheim half), 14 at Christmas, 18 in Feb, 22 in March. I've think I have run around 400 miles since October. I've lost toes nails (more than once), I've discovered I've got flat feet, hence a bad knee, I have Reynolds (circulation), all more interesting than a problem...I have really fallen in love with music again, I have a new love for pilates and yoga, even with the hills around OX15 (great training) and most importantly I've learnt to love and look after myself. Better late than never. Thank you to everyone, friends, family and strangers who have supported me on this journey. Until Sunday... and whatever achievement is next in my life!
