BUPA Great Manchester Run 2012 · 20 May 2012 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

It's that time of year when I try and run 6 miles without collapsing in order to raise some money for The Stroke Association.

This awful condition has now affected both my Grandmothers and I really need your help to make a difference and help provide support for those who have been affected by Strokes.

On May 20th I'm running the Bupa Manchester 10K. This will be my sixth time running the course and the third year i am running for this charity. Last year i raised around £155, so this year i would like to get close to that again as £150 will provide a life changing "Life After Stroke Grant" for a person affected by a stroke.

This charity is very special to me as in 1997 my Grandma suffered a severe stroke which paralysed the whole right side of her body. This meant she had to re-learn how to speak, write and walk. It was a terrible experience and i hope to raise as much money as possible in order to help other people who have been affected by Strokes. De ja vu struck last year when at the same age (to the month) my other Grandma suffered from the same fait.

Just a few facts:

*Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability and the third biggest killer in the UK

*Every 5minutes someone in the UK has a stroke

*For every £50 spent of cancer research and every £20 spent on heart disease research, just £1 is spent on stroke.

So please can you sponsor me as much as you can, even if that is £1 because every little really will help!

Thank you =)
