A little warm fuzzy friend who is always there for you: cat lovers everywhere know how much these best friends mean to us, and what we would do to protect them. That's why I am so happy to have pledged £2250 in aid of Cats Protection, to better to lives of kitty cats across the Midlands!

I will be embarking on an epic 11-day mission through Madagascar, including a 5-day trek through Andringitra National Park and ascent of two of its peaks. Anyone who knows me will know I won't carry a bottle of milk up a hill for five minutes, so this is an epic undertaking in the training I will have to do! 

Cats Protection have been working with cats for nearly 100 years, beginning as the Cats Protection League in the 1920s! Since then, they've rehomed over 2 million cats and kittens and have championed the rights of cats. Today, they're the largest feline welfare charity in the UK. 

Cats Protection help over 400 kitties every day, but with your input, they can help even more. Even a small pledge from you can make a huge difference for the lives of kitties brought to Cats Protection for care:

• £10 will feed a cat for 50 days
• £20 provides an initial health check for a cat brought into a Cats Protection centre
• £50 could provide a specialist den and soft bedding to help a fearful kitty feel safe and secure
