Story

Bowel Cancer UK are the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. They are determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.Your support will help stop people dying of bowel cancer by funding vital services and lifesaving research.

In August 2020 my mother in law, Carolyn, died following a short 12 months of living with Bowel Cancer. True to form, she tackled her diagnosis, which came when she was just 64 years old, with a remarkable amount of grit, determination and strength. The hope, optimism and energy (alongside a wicked sense of humor) Carolyn used to determine her journey, was admirable and I hope to channel at least a fraction of her spirit, into running 26.2 miles, to contribute to no other family having to go through what has happened to ours.

Running the marathon is in memory of Carolyn but also in support of all of the families out there who are going through something similar, now or in the future. Hopefully the money raised will help fund vital research to change the outcome of so many future stories.
