Story

Hi everyone!

I am running the Bedford Santa 10K to raise money for Dogs for Good. I’ll be running the race in a Santa Suit. 🎅

A bit about Dogs for Good:

Dogs for Good believes in the power of dogs. Since 1988, Dogs for Good has been making life-changing differences for people with disabilities. The charity supports people with complex needs including physical disabilities, autism, dementia and learning disabilities enabling them to lead more independent lives through the help of trained dogs. They receive over 5,000 enquiries a year and it costs more than £22,000 to train and support each assistance dog. With your sponsorship, they can create more life-changing partnerships.

Could buy an interactive dog toy for a puppy or dog to stimulate learning

Could buy a grooming kit for a School Dog - to help learning about dog care

Could buy a jacket for an assistance dog to provide access to public places

Why I am running the Bedford Santa 10K for Dogs for Good:

Back in March this year we sadly lost our beloved Simpson at age 15. Simpson was my sister’s registered assistance dog that helped to give her independence and confidence. My sister has complex additional needs including Autism, EDS and disassociate seizures. We looked for a means to help Emily, and then we found Dogs for Good and the wonderful Simpson. Simpson helped with small tasks like picking up things Emily dropped, retrieving items and pulling off socks and jackets when Emily was suffering from pain. Simpson also accompanied her out and about, helping to give her confidence and reassurance. His special jacket alerted the public of Emily’s additional needs, giving her the space and support she required. Simpson was just one of the many amazing dogs that Dogs for Good train. He really helped to transform my sister’s life. He also helped to change mine too. In retirement, Simpson became a family dog and I got to develop a special bond with him and we became best friends. He had a wonderful life and was adored. I held him right until the end. I am running this Santa 10K in honour of Simpson. I want to raise money for this wonderful charity so that they can keep training dogs to support young people and adults with disabilities. I know times are really tough right now, so any donations, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. 🧡

I will be running the Bedford Santa 10K on Sunday 11th December. 🎅

Simmy, this one’s for you. X
