Story
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability which affects how people communicate and interact with the world. There are around 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK on the autistic spectrum, roughly 1 in 100 people in the UK are on the spectrum for autism. The National Autistic Society aims to make a society that works, and is more accessible for autistic people by providing support, changing attitudes, and opening up opportunities, therefore transforming the lives of autistic people and their families.
In June 2021, I will be climbing the three highest peaks in the UK (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon - a total of 25 miles of climbing) in 48 hours for the National Autistic Society alongside the University of Kent. Having people in my family and working with children at tennis on the autistic spectrum, I’ve seen how the view of the world may be different and how simple adaptations make working and socialising that much easier. The National Autistic Society works to change attitudes by improving public understanding and awareness of autism.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated for this amazing charity, however big or small, any donation made will go directly to making a difference in transforming the lives of people on the autistic spectrum.
Thanks
Sophie xx
