We support people with Tourettes Syndrome to live their lives to the full

Story

As many of you know, Kayleigh (Kay's daughter and Sophie's sister) was diagnosed with Tourettes Syndrome back in 2020.

Tourettes action helped our family massively during lockdown when there was no other help available.

They continue to support us everyday so what better way to say thank you than losing the plot and running the London Marathon. To raise awareness and funds to enable them to continue their research and support.

Please sponsor because I'm really going to miss the pub (from Sophie)

This is the only one we are ever going to run so please make it worth our while (from Kay)

A more detailed background on why we have chosen Tourette’s:

Before Kayleigh’s diagnosis our only knowledge of Tourette’s was the “funny programmes” on tv (which we have all laughed at!). They failed to mention the not so funny parts that come with it..Kayleigh physically hurting herself and not being able to control her movements, being told to stay home from school to not affect other students during her GCSEs, seizures, mental health issues.. Mum not being able to complete a full day at work due to Kayleigh's seizures. The struggle it brings to not only kayleigh but our family that didn’t know how to support her.

The doctors have very little knowledge about Tourette’s and Tourette’s action are dedicated in helping families and investing in more research so future families won’t have to go through these struggles alone. X
