Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am taking part in The Great South Run 2018 to raise money for The Sophie Barringer Trust.
Whilst watching The Great South Run on the TV in 2017 I decided that I wanted to take part. However at that point I had never officially run above 5k, so over the past year or so I have managed to increase my running distance and I took part in my first 10k in the Eastleigh road race in June. After completing this I decided that the Great South Run definitely had to be my next challenge. So there it was - I had signed up for the Great South Run! For those who don't know; The Great South Run is a 10 mile (16km) flat course which takes part in Portsmouth and will take place on the 21st of October 2018.
The Great South Run will take place exactly a week after my 16th birthday so it will make me one of the youngest entrants there due to there being a minimum age of 16. I am so excited to be able to experience running with thousands of other runners through Portsmouth on Sunday 21st of October.
I decided that it would be great to raise money for an amazing local charity at the same time so I am raising money for the Sophie Barringer Trust. The Sophie's appeal is a charity which helps to support children, their families, nursing and support staff with their social, emotional and educational welfare when a child and their family are suddenly faced with the reality of cancer. You can read more about the charity and their story on their website - https://sophiesappeal.org/
