Bupa Great North Run 2012 · 16 September 2012 ·

Every day, people living with terminal illness are given the choice to stay at home by Helen's Trust. By responding to the needs of individuals and their families we help people stay at home, bringing comfort and support at the end of their lives.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Having been a fundraiser for the last few years I’m finally what I preach and I have entered the Great North Run to raise funds for Helen’s Trust!

Those of you who know me well, know that I’m prone to fads and new hobbies which tend to fall by the wayside after a few months (see my golf, knitting and snowboarding phases)….but there’s no getting out of this one: I’m registered and I have my place reserved!

Helen’s Trust is a local charity which supports people of all ages, all over north Derbyshire and Sheffield to have the choice to be cared for and to die at home.

Where would you choose to spend your final days? Being in familiar surroundings with people that you know and love - that is what people wish for when they are coping with an incurable illness.

Helen’s Trust knows that the needs of individuals and their families differ and sometimes the help needed to enable a person to stay at home can be complex. It is often the smallest things can make the greatest difference and that is why we take a very creative and flexible approach to helping people.

Helen’s Trust consider all referrals and will try to fund whatever help is needed to enable a person to remain in their own home whether it is care or equipment, domestic support, help with childcare or respite for carers, or even dog walking!

Just £12 can pay for an hour of palliative care – allowing an incurably ill person to spend their final days at home with their family. Your donation will make a real difference to the lives of local people

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
