I am really pleased to tell you that I have been selected to volunteer overseas with VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) on an International Citizenship Service placement in Zambia. 

ICS essential work with communities that have requested their help and aims to inspire young people, both in the UK and overseas, to become active citizens that are passionate about international development. 

The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £1000 towards the work of VSO and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall cost of ICS, ensuring they can continue sending young volunteers to the developing world and make a lasting difference in the disadvantaged communities. 

My place on the programme is already paid for because ICS firmly believes in the positive impact of young people and wants to offer them an opportunity to change their lives and the lives of others. All the funds raised will support all ICS partners to run the programme effectively, contributing to their vital work. 

This summer I will be spending 12 weeks in Samfya, Zambia working on projects mainly focused on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. The programme aims to provide communities with the knowledge, skills,  opportunities and services to help them live healthy and happy lives. 

I will be organising a variety of fundraising activities so you can keep track of my progress on here. Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries.
