Here at the Hospice, we have joined together to form the Alton Towers Half Marathon Team!
Each of our stories are below:
Sophie
After over 10 months of working at Rotherham Hospice as Fundraising Development Manager, I have seen first hand the incredible care and compassion that is given to our patients and their families and how important fundraising is to make sure we can continue this vital work. I am absolutely terrified as I despise running (I'm hoping I won't after this!) and this is going to be a huge challenge, but it couldn't be for a better cause.
Jamie
I completed the Couch to 5K at the beginning of the year after my lovely boss, Stephen, suggested we do the half marathon. I have since gone on to run a 10k race and competed in a relay race which I cant quite believe. My job here at the Hospice is to look after all of our community supporters and help them with their fundraising. So, after seeing how much love and support we get from the wonderful people of Rotherham I thought it was only right that I get involved and set myself a challenge, a huge challenge for me but one I can't wait to do.
Stephen
I have worked at Rotherham Hospice for 2 years and it is the best job I have ever had. Our staff and volunteers are wonderful and give such care to the patients and families we support. I am running this half marathon as I want to do something extra for this wonderful hospice. Even if it means blisters and sore legs. Thank you for supporting.
Lyndsey
The Hospice is a wonderful charity that is extremely close to our hearts. Along with regular volunteering, I wanted to do that little bit extra to try and raise much needed funds (plus my sister made me do it).
Vicki
Running isn't something I ever thought I would be good at or enjoy, until I met these girls (Rachel, Jamie and Linz). The joy that they have brought into my life is unmeasurable and if running a half marathon by their side to show support and some words of encouragement is what they need for such an amazing cause then I'M IN!!!...This Hospice does such amazing work in the community for those that need it most so the decision to stick my name down for this fundraising event was easy, even if the task itself wont be!!!
Rachel
Running a half marathon has never been on my list of things I'd love to do but since running with these girls I love it more than I ever have, so if anyone can get me to the end they will! Rotherham Hospice gives such amazing care and support to families when they need it most, so I'm more than happy to rise to the challenge and try to raise much needed funds.
Simone
I wanted to push myself and do something I never dreamt possible whilst raising much needed funds for the Hospice. Running a half marathon doesn't sound easy at all, so I thought why not!

On behalf of all of us, thank you for your donation and support. Rotherham Hospice needs to raise £3million per year to keep going, which equates to around £8,500 per day. Recently there was a statistic that said if everybody in the Rotherham area gave £1 per month, we would raise all the money we need. This shows that no donation is too small and it really does all add up.
