Breaking the Chains of Period Poverty in Kenya
Welcome to my JustGiving page dedicated to combating period poverty in Kenya. For the past year, I have been committed to addressing a dire issue that often goes unnoticed – period poverty. Period poverty is a heart-wrenching reality where girls cannot afford proper menstrual hygiene products, forcing them to resort to unhygienic alternatives like cow dung, old pieces of mattress, or engaging in transactional sex. My mission is simple: i want to eliminate this barrier and ensure that no girl ever has to face such challenges.
Our Mission:
I have tirelessly worked on designing reusable pads, the solution to this pressing problem. These reusable pads have been crafted after months of research and trials. Our goal is to distribute these pads to young girls in rural areas, providing them with a sustainable and hygienic solution for their menstrual needs. Each package contains 6 reusable pads, with each pad lasting a minimum of 3 years, offering a cost-effective and long-term solution.
Education and Empowerment:
Our mission goes beyond distributing pads. We understand that education and awareness play a crucial role in breaking the cycle of period poverty. That's why, along with the reusable pads, we will provide comprehensive menstrual education and female hygiene information to these young girls. Knowledge empowers them to manage their periods safely and with dignity.
