Story
Packed lunch or school dinners? A common dilemma for some parents in the U.K. Imagine if you had to send your children off to school feeling weak and hungry? Not being provided with lunch and lacking the energy to learn or concentrate? We are very lucky that in the UK free school meals are provided by the government for those in need. The forgotten refugee children in Sudan don't have that
As you are aware, a huge drought has hit East Africa leaving 20 million people on the brink of starvation. The work that Charity Right are doing in Sudan is even more crucial during this crisis. In fact, Charity Right are the only people actively working on the ground to ensure that these children get access to basic food, to keep them in education and to see them succeed.
Without these meals, many of these children would be on the streets begging for food and trying to make ends meet instead of receiving an all round education, including hifdh. Often, the meal is the only thing that is keeping them in school and, during this terrible drought, it might be the only thing keeping them alive. These children are just like our own in the UK, they want to grow up to be successful in life. That can only happen if we support them with their first steps today.
