Story
In September 2014 my Dad was diagnosed with Advanced Prostate Cancer. His cancer was terminal yet was fortunate to receive treatment and participated in drugs trials that prolonged his life. As a family, we are proud of the legacy he has left which I hope will help many brothers, uncles and fathers of the future.
The statistics are hard-hitting.
Every 45 minutes one man dies from prostate cancer – that's more than 11,500 men every year.
1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
Today and tomorrow (a year later then planned - C-19!) I will be running a 24 hour race to raise awareness for this disease.
How does the race work I hear you say:
- 2 in a Team - my Team mate is a legend who I’ve historically shared a podium with (in the 12 hour version of this event) and guided me to my 3:20 marathon
- Only 1 person can be on the course at a given time
- 6 mile laps
- 24 hours to complete as many laps as we can
This is undoubtedly going to be a mental and physical challenge with no sleep and a whole lot of kms; however, I hope to contribute to a future where lives are not limited by prostate cancer.
Thanks for your support!
