This year I will be taking part in the14 miles Marsden march to raise money for the Royal Marsden hospital in memory of my beloved wife soozi, who lost her battle with cancer in March 2014. Suzanne first started to get ill in May/June time 2012, suffering first with stomach pains, that at the time we didnt think anything of. But the pains got progressive worst and with numerous trips to the doctors not giving us an answer to what was wrong with her. However in late November 2012 we got the shocking news that the doctors has discovered she a metastatic bowel cancer. Within 24 hours of this news she under when emergency surgery to remove the tumour from her bowel. Whist this was a success she still faced months of chemo and we insisted that she was to go to the Royal Marsden, as we knew that is was a world leading cancer hospital.

At the RMH soozi under when chemo once every 3 weeks and then once every fortnight, had more surgery to remove a new tumour and radiotherapy. Whist our time at the hospital wasn't easy, the staff made both soozi and myself as comfortable as possible, the staff didnt just look after soozi but also myself and family member. Supplying us all with tea and someone to listen and gave us advice to make soozi as comfortable as possible. I only half joke at the time that the RMH made the rest of the NHS hospital we when to seam like the third world. In the autumn of 2013 we both decided to do the march in 2014, but when the date got near, soozi health took a turn for the worst and we couldnt do the walk. So this year I plan to do the 14 mile walk to raise money to help the Marsden continue to help over patients and family who are going through this terrible, scare time, so they can get the same care soozi and I received. 

So please give what you can, some of you may have had family or friend at the Marsden and can understand what I am say. But for those of you that have not been, I hope that you never have reason to go there.
