So I've decided to set myself a challenge of running my first half marathon! Call me mad!
I'll be running from Slough (was meant to be from Windsor but changed due to the Olympic route!) to Marlow on the 22nd July in the Down Tow Up Flow half marathon with a couple of my friends.
Whilst looking to achieve this personal challenge I also wanted to take the opportunity to raise money for a fantastic charity that has greatly assisted my boss and his family over the last year.
Very sadly in February of this year my bosses son, Ben Crutchley, sadly passed away from a brain tumour. Ben was only 9 years old and was extremely brave through all his treatment but very sadly lost his fight against cancer.
Clic Sargent are a charity that provided an outstanding level of support to both Ben and his family through what was an extremely difficult time for all of them and they do this for so many other families who find out their children have cancer. When you listen to those who work for Clic Sargent, you really appreciate the support they provide and it's the money they get from your kind donations that makes this possible.
Please support me in getting through the half marathon and most importantly support those children and families by making a donation to Clic Sargent so they can carry on their outstanding work with families who find themselves in the very sad and difficult position my boss and his family have endured.
Thanks for your support and if you fancy coming to watch me please feel free to-I'll be the very red and sweaty one!
I DID IT!
I wanted to drop you all a quick note to say how grateful I am for your kind donations to Clic Sargent and the support you have me to get through my first marathon on Sunday. You will be pleased to hear that I successfully completed the challenge in 2 hours and 3minutes to be exact!
What I wasn’t expecting were a number of bridges to climb, mud pools to go through and then the somewhat unfamiliar British sunny weather on the day!
At the 9 mile mark I felt surprisingly fine and it was even going through my head that my next challenge has to be a full marathon! After 11 miles I started to rethink that idea!
However, you would not believe how motivational it was to have raised such a fantastic amount of money for such a great cause and this really helped me to go for my personal best!
Thanks to you all I've raised a total of £548 to date which RBS will double for Clic Sargent.
Surprisingly my legs have been pain free and I can walk as normal!
New York Marathon next maybe!
Thanks again,
Sonia
