Story
Summer Search has been supporting young people from low-income backgrounds to become educated, thriving young adults for 30 years. From full-time staff mentors, summer learning experiences, to post-secondary support, Summer Search is committed to providing its students with access to educational programming that truly champions justice and equity.
Now this support is more critical than ever!
Everyone has been impacted by the events of this year. For Summer Search's students and families, the repercussions include job loss, lack of paid sick leave, housing & food insecurity, and all-too-familiar reminders of the violent, unfair treatment of people in their communities. Despite everything that has impacted our country in 2020, Summer Search New York City students have continued to succeed:
- 100% of Summer Searchers graduated high school.
- 96% were accepted to a post-secondary program.
- 82% have committed to a post-secondary program.
Request for Support
Due to the impact of COVID-19, we had to cancel our annual fundraising soirée. However, we’re committed to raise $50,000 by September 30th. So to show my gratitude to any generous donors among my friends, family, and colleagues, I will send everyone who contributes a personalized song, which can be used to rock out (highly unlikely) or tease me relentlessly (highly likely).
Virtual Soirée - Join Us!
In addition to fundraising, the Associate Board will be hosting a Virtual Soirée on Thursday, September 24th to celebrate the accomplishments and work of Summer Search's students and staff over the past year. There will be remarks from current students, alumni, and staff. Please click here to register for the event. We hope to see you there!
VIP Package + Raffle
Anyone who donates $150 or more will be invited to join the event early for a virtual mixology session led by a professional bartender. We'll also be raffling off some exciting items during the event. All event registrants will be automatically entered into the drawing.
