Story
The Charity
Nishkam* SWAT (Sikh Welfare and Awareness Team) take the concept of seva (selfless service) to the streets by providing food, clothing, healthcare and support to disadvantaged people across the country.
The Project
Every week SWAT provides over 2000 people with meals. Your donations will buy the food and supplies necessary to operate SWAT’s Homeless Outreach Project. Your donations will also contribute towards the purchase of winter clothing, sleeping bags and blankets.
The Challenge
We’re taking part in a one-day trek up Mt. Snowdon themed “Serve Humanity with Every Step”, we’ll be covering a distance of 9 miles, climbing to a height of 3,199ft.
We have covered the cost of our travel, expenses and admin so every penny donated will go towards helping SWAT.
The Plea
The average outreach session costs the charity £350, so we hope to raise enough money to sponsor at least one session with the help of our family and friends!
With the extreme weather we’ve been experiencing, a 169% rise in homelessness since 2010 and the ongoing cuts to our public services, the work of charities such as SWAT is now more vital than ever.
Every single penny is appreciated, no donation is too small.

* "Nishkam" refers to an action for which one has no desire for reward of any sort. To carry out an action without longing for a consequence of reward or pay back of any sort would be termed a 'Nishkam' action.
