Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  As many of you know Lupus is something close to my heart, as a way to give back for all the help LUPUS UK provide I am trying to raise £750.00 for the only national registered charity supporting people with Lupus and assisting those approaching diagnosis.

Lupus is an incurable immune system illness affecting some 50,000.00 people in the UK.  It is systemic, in that it can affect any part of the body including kidney, lungs and brain in an irreversible way and thats the danger.

It occurs when the immune system produces far too many antibodies which, circulating through the bloodstream, this causes reactions leading to inflammatory processes anywhere in the body.

The two major sysmptons of Lupus are joint and muscle pain and an extreme tireness that wont go away no matter how much you rest.

As well as raining money I am also trying to raise awareness, with its many symtoms lupus can often be overlooked by a GP or consultant which may delay final diagnosis and a vital start to necessary treatment which can contain the disease and hopefully limit potential damage to the kidneys, heart, lungs or brain. Those diagnosed usually remain in medical care and receive ongoing treatment.

There's far more undiagnosed lupus out there being 'put up with' and if we increase awareness hugely  these people can be diagnosed and then get some quality back into their lives. Lupus is usually 'for life' at present with no signs of a cure at moment.

To raise money I have entered the British 10K London Run in July, running around London is not something that I am used to doing unless its from shop to shop.

So please dig deep and help me raise my target and awareness for this illness and hopefully together we can move a step closer to finding a cure x x x
