Story
Every year, New Hampshires civil legal system weighs thousands of disputes involving profoundly important issues in peoples daily lives. NHLA and 603 Legal Aid provide free civil legal services, including advice, direct representation, and systemic advocacy alongside the most vulnerable Granite Staters: people who could otherwise not afford an attorney and would struggle to manage their case on their own. With our legal help, our clients successfully accessed millions of dollars to pay for housing, food, medication, and utilities during the worst months of the pandemic. Our attorneys and paralegals defend people facing eviction or foreclosure; we support domestic violence victims seeking protection from an abusive partner, or child support after a divorce; we help people with disabilities access the benefits and care they need to live with health and dignity; and we advocate for fairness and justice in all arenas where conversations about people living in poverty are held.
