Story
Every year, roughly 1 in 4 of us experience a form of mental health problem. With statistics on the rise and severe funding cuts to mental health services (around £600 million!), it's becoming even harder for those in need to seek and receive the support they require.
Mental health has directly affected some of my friends, loved ones and members of my own family, and it's a cause I wish to help where possible. There's probably a time in all of our lives where we may have experienced this without even realising!
Mental health is just as important as our physical health, and should never been overlooked. Exercise, mindfulness and being by the sea have all shown to improve symptoms of mental health problems. That's why we're holding a beach bootcamp throughout the summer holidays - not only to raise money for a fantastic charity, but also to increase awareness and do something positive for our own mind, body and spirit.
We're doing this for 'Dorset Mind', the mental health charity who make sure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn to for advice and support. Throughout Dorset they run support groups, befriending and deliver training - see their website for details: dorsetmind.uk. They rely on funding from local council and donations from fundraisers, so every little really does help to support those with mental health problems.
Please get involved either by joining our beach bootcamp (www.sofiactive.co.uk) where 20% of total proceeds will be donated to Mind, or leave us an online donation that will help us to reach our target of £300 and support this crucial cause.
Thank you for your time and support,
Sofia x
