Story
Well, it's not really 'my' story but it's our story.
Our mum (Monique Laurence Levesque aka Mailka Guendouz) passed away on the 15th of October 2009. She was an amazing lady, so strong and brave, super intelligent... sometimes an amazingly cheeky lady and in our opinion the best mum in the whole wide universe! Like us, mum was really stubborn but (maybe unlike us) she was loved by everyone who knew her, her laugh was infectious, her smile could brighten up the darkest room and she could out dance anyone! We miss her more than she’ll ever know.
Mum suffered from type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent diabetes) and in 2002 she went into a diabetic coma which lead to her being severely brain damaged and thus permanently hospitalised. We are raising money for Diabetes UK in her memory and in hopes that the charity can continue to improve the lives of people with the condition and work towards a future without diabetes.
In the coming weeks and months as well as training for the run we will be doing a few fundraising activities like bake sales. If you have any fund raising ideas for us, let us know... and yes, Sonia will be giving up coffee as one of the fund raising activities.
Thanks a million for taking the time to read this and for helping us reach our target.
Sonia & Sofia
