Story

Can’t remember what a pub, a bar, or a nightclub feels like anymore? No worries, we’ve got you and your Friday night covered.

Just because we are social distancing, doesn’t mean we can’t be social. Social Discoing will be blasting your favourite songs for 3 hours every Friday night, straight to your living room. You and your friends have the choice of which ‘room’ to be in; from nostalgic dance tracks to RnB bangers, leave it to us to entertain you.

Are we doing this for fun? Yes. Are we doing this for a good cause? Absolutely!

As you all know, the NHS and its services are under tremendous pressure due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. The costs and efforts associated with protecting our healthcare workers require additional funds and support and what better way to raise these funds than getting a lil’ dance on in your own living room all for a good cause?

We’re raising funds for NHS Charities Together, a group raising money to support NHS staff and volunteers caring for COVID-19 patients and families.

Invite your friends and make it a night out whilst staying very much in, turn your living room into the dance floor and have a night to remember!

FAQs

When does it start?

Every Friday at 9pm GMT, 4pm EST

How much is ‘entry’?

There is no entry fee! That said, if you feel like donating to this good cause, please do so right here, where *all* proceeds will go to NHS Charities Together.

All entrants must be 18+ (see Zoom T&C's).

How do I join the event?

Install Zoom beforehand (you can do this here, it’s FREE!), we’ll give you the code via our Facebook page to enter, bring yourself, tell your friends and you’re good to go.

What should I wear?

Whilst you’re allowed to wear trainers or sliders, bear in mind that it is a live event and that anyone can be watching. We’ll do our best to keep things respectful in the rooms, but please make sure you respect common decency. Other than that, dress up, dress down, wear your best party clothes, or your comfiest pj’s… it's up to you!

How do I move from room to room?

Inside the Zoom call, there will be two different breakout rooms; just hit the 'breakout room' button on your taskbar on the call and this will take you to the other room of music. If you want to leave that room and come back, press 'Leave breakout room' on the bottom right of your taskbar on the call.

Can’t people hear what I’m saying or doing?

Nope! Everyone’s microphone will be muted to not get in the way of the music, but you can write to the room, or privately message people in the chat.

Can people see me dancing?

Yes, and no. It’s up to you if you want your camera on; if you want people to see your cutting shapes on the dancefloor, feel free! If not, no worries, you can always turn off your camera before or during the event.

I have more questions, who do I ask?

Head over to our Facebook page and hit the ‘message’ button or email socialdiscoing@hotmail.com, we’ll be able to answer more specific questions there
