Story
On May 28th 2022 we are planning to hike Snowdon in memory of our beloved Michelle and to raise funds for the Huntington’s Disease Association Charity. Our goal is to help raise awareness of Huntington’s and to raise funds to continue to support sufferers and their families in receiving the care and support they so desperately need.
We are inviting family, friends and colleagues far and wide to join us in taking on the challenge in memory of Michelle.
Huntington’s disease is close to our hearts and runs in our family, losing our Great Grandfather, Grandfather and Auntie Lyn (Michelle’s mum) and tragically now Michelle.
Huntington’s disease is a genetically dominant disorder which stops parts of your brain working over time. It causes severe mental illness, your ability to control your limbs and to swallow foods, eventually causing difficulty breathing.
Its progression is fast and fatal and often shows in early to mid-adulthood.
There is no cure nor any medication to prevent this. Research is working on medication trials to slow its symptoms but it is underfunded and relatively unknown.
We are aiming to raise £1,500 for the Huntington’s Disease Association Charity.
In memory of Michelle and all Huntington’s sufferers any donation, big or small, will be greatly appreciated and any support you can give in spreading the word, sharing or raising awareness would be extremely helpful in making more people aware of this destructive and devastating disease.
Thank you,
