Story
For my Nan!
I am running the London Marathon 2023 for Leukaemia Care Uk.
This illness hit very close to home for me and I want to raise as much as I can to help & support those affected and I hope that one day we will beat it.
In the summer of 2016 I was on holiday when I recevied a call from my mum, my Gran was in hospital. She had been ill for a while with various illnesses so we were told it was nothing really to worry about & that she just needed a bit of treatment. My nan hated hospitals so this was her worst nightmare.
Returning to the UK a few days later visiting my nan was tough, further tests had shown her body wasnt responding to treatment due to her white blood cells being low.
They wanted to keep her in hospital but she was having none of it, she returned home to the few comforts she had left.
We were told her immune system was at level zero & that a common cold would take her away from us, she remained at home, fighting on as best she could like she always did. A few weeks later passed away.
There are many many stories similar to this, people have seen their loved ones suffer, fight but ultimately have lost their loved ones.
Once again, I would like to do my bit to raise money for all the fighters out there past & present and prevent this happening in the future.
I will be running in memory of all those we couldn't save. 🙏
Your support and donations would be so appreciated.
Thank You!
