Not many people know much about pancreatic cancer, but in brief, it is an aggressive cancer which has little chance of survival beyond 5 years. My family has been affected by this, and we are attempting to raise awareness and as much money as we can, to help the charities research the disease and help increase the survival rates.

So far there are a group of 5, who are attempting the National Three Peaks 24 hour Challenge, around the 11th June of this year. Still waiting on a few more though.

The challenge consists of walking appro25 miles up and down the National Three Peaks of the UK in under 24 hours, including about 11 hours of driving time. The challenge covers over 480 miles of the country and is going to be a tough ordeal.

Around 30 years ago, my father was part of a team which ran the three peaks. He with one other person, broke the previous Venture Scout record of 19 hours 57 minutes, set a new National Junior Record and were only 21 minutes off the National All-Comers record - rather impressive since they were only 17 at the time.

Not like I need any more encouragement to attempt the challenge, but this sure has spurred me on further.

It is therefore my goal to follow in their footsteps and to be able to achieve this challenge in 24 hours.
