Story
The cancer statistic of 1 in every 2 is a cruel reality and at sometime we all have to face the devastation of cancer being at our doorstep.
Benise, Sarah and Sarah are stepping up and stepping out, taking part in the Macmillan Mighty Marathon Hike on July 13th. Macmillan Cancer Support do amazing work in groundbreaking science, preventative screening and unending family support.
We are proud to be fighters, survivors and supporters. Please help us, help Macmillan, to help us all combat cancer. Any donation made will go a long way to keep us going as we go our long way.
Here are our personal stories...
Sarah S: 18 months ago, instead of throwing the standard-issue, over-50-something pooh test in the drawer “for another day”, I was inspired by friends and others in the public eye to just get on with it. Turns out, it’s easily done.
What followed was the NHS and Macmillan at their best, rolling into action to operate using the latest technology. Caught early, my bowel cancer was removed completely and I recovered quickly. I was so lucky - I’m walking to help Macmillan support those who have far harder, longer journeys and who need their amazing support for themselves and their families. #checkyourpooh
Benise: I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in 2017. I can't deny it's been a rollercoaster of ups and downs for 7 years. The Royal Marsden team are incredible. I am truly grateful to them.
The last 7 years has certainly shown me how wonderful my family and friends have been.
I'm here enjoying my life and appreciating every single day.
I am walking today as I've seen how brilliant Macmillan are. A much needed service when times are incredibly hard.
Sarah M: Last year my fabulous sister Joan became ill with a sudden, massive and aggressive tumour. As life long marathon runner she was fit, healthy and full of life. She never gave up hope, but sadly after a few months of some very invasive treatment, passed away from what was officially classified as an unidentified cancer. So I'm walking to Support the Science and the vital work that Macmillan do.
Thank You
Sarah, Benise and Sarah xxx
