Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We all know someone who has been affected by heart problems at some time, whether directly or through someone close to us. British Heart Foundation’s help in funding cutting edge research makes a big impact on trying to reduce coronary heart disease, which is the UK's single biggest killer. I am taking part in British Heart Foundation’s 40 mile bike challenge to cycle from Kempton Park in the outskirts of Greater London to Reading to try to raise some funds to help BHF in this work.
This will be the longest cycle ride on public roads that I have undertaken (so far). The route is described as “largely flat” – “largely” is explained in the small print; The gradient isn't too hilly - but don't get lulled into a false sense of security. With around 5 miles to go lies the big bad climb known as Chalk Hill.
You can see the profile in a picture on this page. I agree this is not Mont Ventoux, but it will be good start to my training for when I do go there (Mont Ventoux is a future challenge with some others, who know who they are :) )!
