Story
My name is Sam Wilde. My current job is a PTI - Physical Training Instructor, to recruit for the British Army and show a face for my local Infantry Regiment - The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. I have served for 12 years 7 months. (Started January 2004)
Throughout this time I have served Operationally in different theatres including Iraq and Afghanistan, where fellow Fusiliers have sadly lost lives due to conflict. However, lives have also been lost on home soil for various reasons.
Part of my current job role is a PTI - Physical Training Instructor. This enables me to teach fitness to fellow soldiers and helps deliver training to potential new recruits for the British Army. My belief is that,
"You can't teach what you can't preach",
So therefore myself, the Fusilier Cycling team and fellow Fusiliers both past and present, will be conducting various Physical events in order to raise money for the Fusilier Aid Society.
On the 19th January i suffered a complete rupture of my Achilles Tendon. Through a disciplined approach on recovery and aggressive physio, i have worked my way back to fitness and along with other members of the fusilier family, we are conducting a cycling event at the end of August. Although not being able to run, i have found a way to push myself physically in road cycling. This allows me to work hard and place little pressure on my Achilles area.
Therefore myself and the team wish to both raise the profile of the Regiment and support the official charity we are part of, "Fallen Fusiliers".
The charity I am trying to help is aimed at supporting the bereaved families and wounded from past and current conflicts. So please support your local regiment and donate any amount you like. It will go along way in helping our brave lads and families.
