Story

Why this cause?

Domestic Abuse is a cause very close to my heart. After finishing my counselling studies, I would like to work with women and children who have been victims of abuse. Until then, I want to help by raising awareness and supporting any way that I can.

There is always a ricochet effect in someone's life after they have experienced this kind of abuse. It changes a person and more often than not, they will need support for months and years to come. These charities are always underfunded and every penny given is really worth it.

I have chosen my local charity to help as I know the amazing work they are doing and that they are calling out for donations since the wake of Covid-19 and the rise of domestic abuse in North Devon has increased. Please donate even a couple of pounds, if you can! x

About NDADA

The pressure of lockdown will increase domestic violence dramatically. We know this from evidence coming out of China and Italy and our own experience here where we have already noticed an upswing in requests for help. Women and children who can usually escape to a refuge or safe house are now confined with their abuser, with no option to leave and stay with friends or family.

It's a terrifying idea, isn't it? NDADA runs the only Refuge in Devon, and we're asking you to give a small donation so we can provide more services and support during the lockdown. It will save lives. Please don't worry if it is just a tiny donation - whether £5, £50 or £500, everything helps.

Your money...

Your donation will go straight into supporting children and their mums at the Refuge and help us provide urgently needed places for those seeking escape and safety. It will also fund support services which women can access remotely (and without the fear of being discovered).

The Jump

Miranda and I are jumping out of a plane on 3rd October in Devon.

Miranda is raising money for Pete's Dragons who are Devon based charity that supports those who have experienced the loss of a loved one through suicide.

They provide a multitude of services including talking therapies, grief recovery courses, support services, mindfulness through play, practical advice and much more and if I can raise some money for this good cause more people can get the right support.
