Story
Firstly, here's a little bit about who Skills for Care are...
Skills for Care is a trusted independent charity with over
18 years’ experience in developing the health and social care workforce. We work directly with the Department of Health and Social Care to deliver a range of different services.
Our support helps leaders and managers within the sector to recruit, develop and lead their staff, retaining them from entry level right through to senior leadership and management roles.

Secondly, this is why we've picked The Care Workers Charity...
The Care Workers’ Charity provide crisis grants to people who have worked in a paid role in the UK’s care sector and are involved in or support the provision of care.
There are almost 2 million care workers in the UK, contributing to one of the largest workforces, and caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
Skills for Care have picked this charity because care workers look after our society’s most vulnerable individuals, often for little reward. They spend their careers assisting others, but when circumstances change, sometimes it is the carers who need some help.

Finally, the STEPtember challenge details!
During September members of Skills for Care are taking part in walking, cycling or running 2,800 miles which is equivalent to the England Coast Path. Each participant will complete and record their allocated miles which we will then post weekly to this page so you can see how we’re getting on!
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your donation which feels that little bit more important now knowing how hard care workers have and are working during the Coronavirus pandemic.
