Story
On 13th May, over 24 hours, the three of us will be tackling Pen Y Fan 10 times!
Yes that’s right, 10 Y Fan! We’ll be starting at 6pm on the Saturday evening and will have 24 hours to get up and down 10 times. Walking through the night (of course, with the most stylish head torches on) and into the day, we’ll be making an ascent the equivalent of Mount Everest, and covering 40 miles of distance.
Why are we doing it?
1. We love a challenge, who doesn’t?
2. We’ll be supporting a fantastic charity called Big Moose, have a read below to find out more about them!
3. SJ & Dexter had already signed up and Ellis has massive FOMO.
Our training will consist of Chad WOD (1000 step ups in our weighted vests), a lot of rambling around South West London & Surrey, and most importantly, watching inspirational documentaries on Netflix.
If anyone is able to donate, we would massively appreciate it and we’ll of course share any updates on training & of the event on this page!
Thanks,
SJ, Dexter & Ellis
Here’s a little bit more about Big Moose:
During lockdown we were providing therapy for lots of people and were told by five people that without our intervention they would have ended their lives. Due to early and impactful intervention 5 people were still alive. 5 families weren't grieving and the world still had these amazing humans in it. We listened to people's stories & one thing that we kept hearing was that the therapy & intervention that people needed was taking too long and was inaccessible for so many. And so, just like that, project 1 million was born.
Throughout 2023 we are aiming to raise £1,000,000 which will be used to provide therapy and early intervention for people.this is a huge goal and we cannot do it alone. Our goal is to help people with their mental health, prevent suicide and reduce homelessness. we will achieve our goal and we will save lives. In 2020, 5224 people killed themselves in England and Wales. This project will help to reduce this number. We hope you will join us.
