Story
School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) was established as a charity in 2012 and exists to empower and support both adults and children who are facing social inequality. Through the use of high-impact sport, tailored mentoring and by engendering an atmosphere of genuine acceptance, School of Hard Knocks enables individuals to fully realise their potential. Working across the UK in England, Scotland and Wales, SOHK delivers life-changing programmes and courses that have a long-term impact on participants mental and physical health.
The School of Hard Knocks psychology is the key to the charity's success and is what makes SOHK unique. Understanding how we change behaviour is imperative for SOHK in continuing to do it effectively. School of Hard Knocks aims to create internal change to enable positive external behaviours. Using sport as a vehicle for this works brilliantly because you can identify issues within a sporting context first; before exploring these issues on a personal level

School of Hard Knocks runs courses that use sport to tackle issues surrounding unemployment, antisocial behaviour, crime and health.
We teach responsibility, motivation, teamwork, respect and discipline - all of which allow individuals to take responsibility for their actions and context.
