Ian, Allie, Kari and Cassie

Jumpstart my Service Year 2023 · 1 June 2023 to 1 June 2024 ·
Jumpstart the Sitka JVs! These volunteers have dedicated a year of their lives to serve with JVC Northwest. As such, they have committed to living the four values of Community, Simple Living, Social & Ecological Justice, and Spirituality/Reflection. Your gift goes into a communal pool which helps support their formation and keep fees low for the nonprofits they serve. Help them reach their goal of receiving at least 12 donations of any amount to their page!
Meet the Sitka JVs:
Ian (he/him) is from Duluth, MN and will be serving as an Informal Educator with the Sitka Sound Science Center.
"I serve because it connects me to the community I am living in and creates visible change in the world around me."
Allie (she/her) is from St. Paul, MN and will be serving as 4-H Youth Living with the Land and Building Community Jesuit Volunteer with the Sitka Conservation Society.
"I serve because I see so much inequity in the world and I want to use my skills to work toward healthier communities. I am drawn to spending a year walking among a community - learning from them and advocating for them."
Kari (she/her) is from Seattle, WA and will be serving as an Independent Living Specialist and Outdoor Recreation and Community Access Coordinator with Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL).
"I serve because I believe that giving back to others is the most fulfilling way to live one's life. Spending a year focusing on serving others will allow me to live out my values and enrich my life."
Cassie (she/her) is from Beaverton, OR and will be serving as an After School Prevention Specialist with Sitkans Against Family Violence (SAFV).
"I serve because I believe love is action. Being in and of service with others allows me to learn from diverse perspectives and build my own empathy, while simultaneously showing love to those around me. I am so inspired by the communities I've served with around the world, and I am committed to lifelong learning through service."
