Story

  • Background to RFC
Channel S’ highly reputed Ramadan Family Commitment (RFC) is aimed to generate charitable funds during the month of Ramadan so that the partner charity organisations (named below) receive assistance through Channel S to carryout various projects for the good of humanity.

• Background to The Sisterhood for Humanity Initiative

Our sisters have been and still are the front-line warriors when it has come to combating the coronavirus pandemic. Globally 70% of health workers and first responders are women. Despite this, women have actually been the most affected victims of this deadly pandemic
when it has come to experiencing poverty, abuse, unemployment and mental health issues. A recent report by UN Women and UNDP, found that by 2021 around 435 million women and girls will be living on less than $1.90 a day including 47 million pushed into poverty as a result of Covid-19. Globally 27% women had reported increased mental health issues and the UN has described the worldwide increase in domestic abuse as a "shadow pandemic" alongside Covid-19.
Female refugees have been hit with a “triple crisis”: the challenges of COVID-19, displacement, and gender-based violence. Increased unemployment and rising financial pressures has resulted in a spike in prostitution, human trafficking and child marriages, according to reports by Refugees International. Sisterhood for Humanity are a group of community sisters from different professional backgrounds and different walks of life. However, they all have one thing in common which has brought them together and that is a passion to make a difference to support and empower women who have had to face unfortunate circumstances. This Ramadan we are reaching out to our amazing community to stand by the mothers, sisters, daughters of society by helping us raise £100,000 to support and empower women in the following ways:
shelter, education, food, water, emergency medical support, orphanage, refugee support, counselling and end of life support.

The Sisters for Humanity initiative aims to raise funds to support RFC initiatives to support our mothers, sisters, daughters in Bangladesh, UK, Syria, and across the globe.
