Story
Hello! My name is Emma (chances are you know this if you're visiting this page) and I'm not going to be drinking for the whole of January. Shock horror.
I've always taken the mickey out of people doing Dry January. I used to say that people doing it were boring and only doing it for attention. (Don't worry, I still agree with this premise - I am boring and attention seeking.) But this year is different. Throughout the past couple of years, three of my grandparents have been diagnosed with various different kinds of cancer between them, and if me not drinking for 31 days allows me to raise some money, then so be it.
Cancer is a horrible and pernicious thing that splits families apart too soon. If I manage to raise even just a little bit of money to help then I'll be a happy gal.
So that means no more Anchor beers in Sloans. No more strawpedoing of VKs at the bowling alley (we know how to have a good time). I hope you'll forgive me when I'm being boring at the bar with a lime and soda. It's for a good cause.
Throughout the month, I will tally up all the drinks I would have bought and will donate a pound for each one I haven't touched.
