Story
We are completing the three peaks challenge in 24 hours to raise money for Cots for Tots, part of the Grand Appeal and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol. The charity that helped my husband and I (Siobhan) so much at the worst time of our lives, and the unit that saved our daughters life.
Our daughter was born in June 2020 and suffered a life changing brain haemorrhage. She was immediately transferred from our local hospital to our regional neonatal intensive care unit at St Michael’s in Bristol.
While our darling girl was fighting for her life, my husband and I were left without accommodation as we were in the middle of a lockdown, due to Covid 19.
Cots for tots stepped in and gave us a room seconds away from the unit which meant we could always be with our daughter during this horrific time.
One of us was able to be with our little girl every hour of the day while the other rested in the room.
Their support and love will never be forgotten and we’ll be forever grateful.
800 babies are treated in the NICU each year from those born as early as 23 weeks to babies requiring life-saving treatment when they are born full term, like Louella.
To date, 1,884 families have stayed at Cots for Tots House which costs the charity £35 per family per night to stay or £245 a week. They let you stay completely free of charge and are there for any emotional support you may need.
Please give generously for this incredible charity that so many people rely on in their time of need.
