Pat and I are currently in the process of organising a charity fundraising night on 27th April 2018. The funds raised on the night will be donated to The Sick Children’s Trust (CRN: 284416) and The Addenbrookes Charitable Trust (CRN: 1170103) by way of a massive thank you for all the help that they gave us whilst Shay was in the neo-natal intensive care unit at Addenbrookes Hospital.
By way of brief background, our son, Shay, was born on 16th February 2018, with a diaphragmatic hernia. In consequence of this, Shay's small intestine had moved up to where his left lung was and this had affected it's development which led to Shay being unable to breath on his own.
Shay needed urgent medical treatment by specialists and he received this from Addenbrookes hospital.
I cannot speak highly enough of the Consultants, Doctors and Nurses in the neo-natal intensive care unit at Addenbrookes hospital. They are the most impressive set of people that I have ever come accross. Their skill and expertise is absolutely world class. They are gods on earth and have in short saved our son's life, together with all of the other children's that they save too. Given how clever they all are, you could forgive them for not being very personable whilst they just get on with the job but they aren’t like that, they feel the pain your going through and are doing their absolute best to save your child's life, willing him on all the way.
Whilst Shay was being looked after by Addenbrookes Hospital, the Sick Children's Trust looked after myself and Pat by providing us with a free accommodation only a couple of minutes away from Shay. This allowed us to rest and also to talk to other parents going through similar situations, which was a massive support. I can’t imagine how we would have coped having to be away from Shay when he was so ill. We can’t thank The Sick Childrens Trust enough.
The plan on the night of 27th April 2018 is to hold a raffle and an auction, I have set up this page for those who can’t make the event but would like to donate.
