Story
A little different kind of run up to Christmas this year. Never being able to say no to a challenge my friend Cam and I will be swimming 42 miles (the length of the channel there and back) across 12 days to raise money for two amazing charities. Credits to my lovely friend and Cam's Wife, Katie for setting the challenge in motion.
We will be swimming before work/between clients & after work, every day for 12 days. Weekdays in the pool, weekend swims and the final three days in Bicester Open Water Lake (temperature currently 7C)
Personally, I have chosen KEEN Oxford, who's amazing work to create, support and promote inclusion for all in our community is one close to my heart.
Swimming in memory of my late Aunty Siobhan (Vaughney) and for KEENs goal to create a fully inclusive Oxfordshire for disabled people by 2025.
I hope this, maybe slightly mad, but incredibly worthwhile challenge, can help KEEN build towards this goal. I know my Aunty would of absolutely loved to see it.... KEENs work that is not watching me swim round and round a lake and pool!
Joking aside, I know she would of been the first there, every day, provided all the encouragement I'll need, feed me endless amounts of sweets no doubt, and be there at the end with her biggest bear hug!
Aunty Vaughney, born with cerebral palsy but never once let it stop her from always living life to the absolute max. She was my biggest cheerleader, fellow Christmas enthusiast & the kindest most caring person I will ever meet.
Proud to be swimming on behalf of KEEN and for my Aunty Vaughney - lets hope I can do them proud!
Every donation means so much not only to me, but to KEEN and a huge thank you to everyone! x
