Story
April 26th 2009 - SUCCESS !!!!!
Well, I did it but it was damn hard work ! With my family cheering me on and the sun blazing down I set off a blistering pace. By 13 miles I knew that I would have to reduce my pace or seriously risk dropping out. At mile 20 my legs were beginning to cramp badly and runnners around me were falling and collapsing into the arms of paramedices. Several generous sponors had promised an additional donation if I finished in under 3 1/2 hours. With 1.2 miles to go I realised that I had only 11 minutes remaing to hit my target. I picked up my pace and collapsed over the finish line in 3 hours, 29 minutes and 4 seconds.
I was delighted to find out that I finished ahead of Ronan Keating and Gordon Ramsay and somewhat relieved to find out that I beat Katie Price and Peter Andre by over 3 1/2 hours !!
Together with Dr David Unwin and your generosity over £5,000 has been raised for Queenscourt Hospice. We have both been overwhelmed with the support from family and friends but especially the donations and kind words of our patients. Thank you all so much.
