Story
I, along with four others from my company (Hitachi Solutions Europe) are fundraising for Young Lives vs Cancer by cycling from London to Paris over 4 days from 7th September 2022. That's over 530km/ 330miles!
This is also a personal challenge for me having never been a cyclist before 2021, and as of writing this, never yet cycled over 50km in one go. Yes that's right, I'm an idiot :) - but well worth it to raise vital funds for Young Live vs Cancer.
Young Lives vs Cancer is an amazing charity providing people, facilities and financial support to young people and their families to face cancer and everything it throws at them.
We hope to raise as much money as possible but as little as £10 can make a difference as it could pay towards an hour of care from the team around a family, so that they have the emotional and financial support they need from Young Lives vs Cancer.
While £26 could pay for an hour of a Young Lives vs Cancer Social Worker’s time. They will aim to speak with children and young people with cancer, and their families, soon after diagnosis and help them to understand and cope with the emotional, practical, and financial effects of cancer, through treatment and beyond.
£38 could pay for a family to stay overnight in one of Young Lives vs Cancer’s Homes from Home, providing free self-catering accommodation near to specialist children’s cancer treatment centres, which are often many miles from a family’s own home.
£100 could pay for a Young Lives vs Cancer grant. Cancer can have a huge effect on a family’s finances and a Young Lives vs Cancer grant is offered to children and young people with cancer, and their families, as soon as they come into contact with us to help meet the sudden extra costs that a cancer diagnosis can bring
Wish us luck but more importantly please support me with any donations you can!
