SUCCESS
At 13:30 on the May Bank Holiday Monday the six of us rounded the last headland and paddled into Totland bay, our starting point. We had spent a very eventful two and a half days and completed a full circuit of the Isle of Wight!
Memorable bits included radioing in a helicopter to rescue a paraglider who'd flown into a cliff, an incident with a hovercraft and a beach landing requiring an exit through huge surf which launched the kayaks airbourne. We all managed "Big Air" in the process!
Less good bits included head winds, tides against and sea sickness.
Thank you all for your contributions, which have gone to a great cause and have excited Becca no end.
So please carry on contributing. The smallest of donations would be great!
Our daughter Becca, now 8 years old, was diagnosed with Insulin Dependent Diabetes (Type 1) on 18th November 2008 when she was 7. We have just achieved good diabetic control by buying an Insulin Pump to deliver her insulin 24 hours a day. However even though my wife and I are both doctors it remains really hard work to maintain good diabetic control. Through it all Becca remains fantastic, she just takes it all in her stride.
We want to help raise money to research into finding the best management and treatment for Type 1 Diabetes and ideally to one day find a cure.
