Fundraising for Breast Cancer Care
Fundraising for Breast Cancer Care
Hi,.
The reason why i'm putting myself through this gruelling trek, is to raise as much money as i can for this worthwhile charity, and if it wasn't for people like you logging on and donating they would not be able to giving that vital support that both suffers and families go through because of this cruel, cruel disease. My family have been touch several times by this awful diease, and my aunty was cruelly snatched away from us with secondary breast cancer after battling over a long period of time.
SO THANK YOU AGAIN.
I LOVE YOU ALL.

The details of the trek are below.
The first two days are travelling to Havana, and then day 2 involves a morning tour around the historic city of Havana, before driving into the Escambray mountains arriving in time for sunset. We stay overnight in a simple hotel.
Day 3
It's an early start this morning as we start our adventure by taking a short ferry ride across the lake to the southern tip of the Hanabanilla Reservoir. Before long we will find ourselves trekking up stream above the Rio Guanayara. After lunch, we pass through shady forests and trek alongside the river to cascading waterfalls and bathing pools. We stay overnight at a local campsite.
Day 4
After a hearty breakfast we start our walk. It’s a challenging start to our day as we climb 400m on narrow mule tracks through lush orange and mango orchards and coffee plantations. The scenery is stunning and the views back down the reservoir are worth the climb alone. As we ascend our path is steep but before long we join up with the road and are able to stop for a brief rest at El Sirio before continuing on to lunch. The afternoon is a gentler journey as we climb up to Codina, where we eat dinner before transferring to our hotel at Topes Collentes for the night.
Day 5
After a short transfer back to Codina from our hotel we begin the day’s trek through coffee plantations to La Batata, where the river forces itself through a crack in the limestone. After stopping at a local farm for lunch, our afternoon route takes us through a beautiful wooded forest, which contains over 300 varieties of tree. After admiring the forest, we trek back to our hotel at Topes de Collentes for the night.
Day 6
The toughest and longest day of the trek sees us walking from our hotel following the path of the River Caburni to its confluence with the Rio Vegas Grande and the glorious Caburni falls. It's a long descent but the awesome sight spurs us on and before long we will be tackling the toughest ridge of our trek up to the Rio Grande Falls. We take lunch at the top with spectacular views! After our well deserved rest we head up a steep path towards Pico de Potrerillo, standing at 972m, and its surrounding protected reserve. We dip down at the end of the day before arriving at the Hacienda Mi Retiro, where we will be greeted by a refreshing and welcome drink before transferring back to our hotel for the night.
Day 7
Our final day of trekking starts with us walking along a hillside path, high above the valley floor. After a steep climb we arrive at one of the best viewing spots on the trek; a spectacular panoramic view of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Trinidad opens out in front of us and we are also treated to our first glimpse of the sea. We descend through rural farmlands and stop for lunch at a local farm, before heading to the Cabellero waterfall and its surrounding crystal clear pools. After a refreshing dip we head to our beachfront hotel for the night.
