This is a charity quite close to home as my wife Karen has asthma, on the whole it is well managed and controlled but a few years ago Karen suffered a severe attack, which I witnessed, she literally couldn’t breath, an ambulance was called and a paramedic dispatched very quickly. The situation was eased and Karen recovered quickly but it reiterated to me how important it is to manage illnesses like asthma and how important the research/funding that has gone into this condition over the years to help people like Karen manage the condition and prevent severe attacks.                                                                          Karen was fortunate to gain a place through the general ballot and will also be running the London marathon for the charity.
